The following might upset alot of people who really care about our River Towy. How the Hell is this allowed to happen in this day and age?!
I have just received the 2011 DECLARED Towy coracle catch details from the Enva Agency.
The 8 nets took 594 Sewin & 57 Salmon out of the River system.
57 Salmon weighing 497 lb and 594 Sewin weighing 3302 lb.
One net alone took 33 salmon (297 lb) & 254 Sewin (1483 lb)
This net alone probably made well over 10 GRAND selling its catch at £6 per pound.
How much longer can this slaughter last because I doubt VERY much
if any fish were returned to the river.
To put this into perspective, the club im a member of on the lower Towy has over 400 members, and the Coracles have not far off doubled the total of Sewin caught by the whole of the club for last season. AND 40 to 50 per cent of the club sewin caught were also returned to the river.
The coracles are defo having a negative impact on our river END OF !
We have a bench and rod rack in Crewel!

Tackle For Sale?
I am selling my Hardy Delux Classic 11ft, 335cm, 7/8 weight 3-piece fly rod, which I have had since new. It's had comparatively little use and is in excellent condition. I have put it up for auction on ebay at the following link.

Hope it's of interest and please feel free to ask any questions.

Crewil Pool Rules
As you are now aware we have been able to rent the above pool this year and have discussed at length the way to fish the pool it has been decided that there will be a marker positioned above the pool at approx the same level as the marker below the pool this will signify the depth of water running through and the method of bait used to fish it,
1. When the water is below the marker fly only and the same dates as for the bottom waters will apply.
2. When waters are higher than the marker any method of fishing can be used worm, spinning or fly.
We would like to point out at this stage that the rules in your permit holders are still to be adhered to.
Access will only be by walking to the pool from either Manordeilo, Glanrhyd pump house, Tyr Isaf or we have now obtained another access via Glanbrydan and this can be seen on the map which is included within this letter. No vehicles are allowed to access the pool only for maintenance purposes.

- I have 2 main interests which are fly fishing for sewin on the River Tywi and photography! I have fished the Tywi for over 20 years at Llangadog so I know the river very well. Other than fishing the river I am an avid lover of it's wildlife and I can often be seen lurking in the undergrowth trying to photograph some of it's diverse wildlife. The Tywi is a wonderful place to fish and a great place to spend leisure time. It is without question one of my top wildlife habitats but also just a lovely place to relax and get next to nature!
